이예승 YeSeung Lee
이예승은 드로잉, 설치, 인터렉티브 미디어 등 넓은 스펙트럼의 매체를 이용하여 가상과 현실의 경계를 넘나드는 미디어 설치 작업을 해오고 있다. 특히 미디어 환경 속에서 인간이 직면하고 있는 다양한 사회적 현상들과 인간이 동시대를 인지하는 방식에 관심을 가지고 있다. [The Green Cabinet](보안여관, 2014년), [Moving Movements](갤러리 조선, 2015년), [동중동(動中動) 정중동(靜中動)](갤러리 아트 사이드, 2016) 등 다수의 개인전을 가졌고, [디지털 프롬나드](서울시립미술관, 2018년), [개성공단](문화역서울 284, 2018년), [자율진화도시](서울시립미술관, 2017년) 등 여러 주요 기획전에 참여했다. 최근 미디어 아트 기관 아르스 일렉트로니카(Ars Electronica)와 현대모터스튜디오와의 글로벌 협업 전시 프로젝트 Human (un)limited에서는 4차 혁명으로 일컬어지는 기술의 변혁기에 마주하는 현시기를 동양 신화적 상상력으로 표현한 개인전 [변수풍경(Variable Scape)](현대모터스튜디오 서울, 2020년)을 선보였다. 국립현대미술관 레지던시(2011)를 거쳐 난지미술창작스튜디오(2013-2014), 금천예술공장(2015), 국립아시아 문화전당(2016), ZER01NE(2019) 등의 국내외 레지던시에서 활발하게 작업을 진행하였고 현재 ZER01NE LAB(2020)의 연구원으로 기술기반 시대의 다양한 미래 시나리오를 탐색 중이다.
YeSeung Lee is a media installation artist with works crossing the borders of the virtual and the real, through a wide spectrum of media such as drawing, installation, and interactive media. The different social phenomena humans face in the media environment and the ways humans perceive the contemporary are what intrigues Lee the most in her practice. Lee’s works have been shown in several solo exhibitions including <The Green Cabinet> (Artspace Boan, Seoul, 2014), <Moving Movements> (Gallery Chosun, Seoul, 2015) and <Dongjungdong Jeongjungdong> (Artside Gallery, Seoul, 2016), as has participated in a series of group exhibitions including <Digital Promenade> (Seoul Museum of Art, 2018), <Gaeseong Industrial Complex> (Culture Station Seoul 284, 2018) and <The Self-Evolving City> (Seoul Museum of Art, 2017). For the recent global collaborative exhibition project jointly carried out by the media art organization Ars Electronica and Hyundai Motor Studio called Human (un)limited, Lee displayed <Variable Scape>, which depicts the technological age of the Digital Revolution through the prism of mythical Oriental imagination. She has participated in numerous residency programs in Korea and abroad, at institutions including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (2011), Seoul Museum of Art (Nanji Residency, 2013-2014), Seoul Art Space Geumcheon (2015), Asia Culture Center (2016) and ZER01NE (2019). Currently a researcher at ZER01NE LAB (2020), Lee is exploring various future scenarios of the technological age.
