박서연 SeoYeon Park

박서연은 내러티브적 요소와 페인팅의 지지체에 관한 연구를 중심으로 회화, 영상, 설치 등을 시도한다. 작가는 인간의 기본적인 욕망인 ’눈속임’을 주제로 작업을 진행한다. 특히 다양한 이면을 가진 인물과 상황이 등장하는 추리 장르 매체에서 단어와 이미지에 집중하여, 틀에 갇힌 상황 속 이미지들이 공간 밖으로 구출되는 과정을 추적한다. 추리소설과 영화에는 사건의 답을 찾으려는 탐정과 숨기고 은폐하는 무인칭의 인간, 그리고 선악을 내포한 캐릭터와 상황이 존재한다. 사건에 갇힌 이야기 속 인물과 상황에 감정이입 하며 느낀 불편한 감정을 바탕으로 ‘허구에서 허구로 만들어진’ 장면들을 페인팅으로 옮겨왔다. 현재 이화여자대학교 서양화 전공으로 학사, 석사 학위를 수여 하였고 4번의 개인전과 다수의 단체전에 참여했다.

SeoYeon Park tries painting, film, and installation, focusing on the study of narratives and supporters of painting. She works on the theme of ‘trickery,’ which is the basic human desire. Focusing on words and images, especially in mystery genre media, where characters and situations have various sides, the artist tracks the process of images inside the frame being rescued out of space. In crime fiction or film, there are detectives trying to find answers to events, unmanned human beings hiding and concealing them, and characters and situations that embody both good and evil. Based on the uncomfortable moods she felt while empathizing with the characters and situations in the story trapped in the incident, the artist moved the scenes ‘from fiction to fiction’ to painting. Park has earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Western painting, and has participated in four private exhibitions and several group exhibitions.
